  I've been looking into buying a t420 and was wondering about something. Do you think it would be necessary to spend more money for an i7 processor or would an i5 be adequate? I'm trying to be fairly cheap and not blow a ton of money on this so I've been looking at eBay. If it changes anything, the i5 has results under the category of Manufacturer Refurbished, but the i7 only has them under the category of Seller Refurbished.

  i just think AMD is much cheaper

  I'm not sure that the t420 is even compatible with an AMD processor. I have yet to find one on eBay.

  AMD cheaper, but Intel more reliable in my opinion. 

  And i have i5 and it good works for all.
