As of late, myself, as well as a lot of other staff members have been bombarded with messages about missions, mentoring and the all time favourite, 'how can I hack Facebook?'. To put it bluntly, this crap needs to stop, so I have written up these new rules for people to abide by while contacting staff on the site. Failure to follow these rules may result in a warning, or even a ban. If you get a reply from a PM that just points you to this thread, then that is your warning.
Staff Groups
Administrators - The admins are the ones on the site that put all of the work in to bring you the community, offering you a place where you can enjoy yourself, educate yourself, and keep the community as one. Should you find any issues with the site, bugs or anything of that nature, then the admins are the ones you can contact to help resolve these issues.
Moderators - The moderators are the group that make sure the content in the forums is up to scratch, and is socially acceptable. Anything that is found to be unacceptable, offensive, or deemed as a spoiler for any of the missions, will be removed by the mods.
Developers - The developers will bring new ideas to the site, and new missions (but anyone is welcome to bring new ideas/missions to the community should you wish). As far as I am aware, there is only 1 developer on the site currently.
EnigmaClusive - The enigmaclusive members are members that have donated towards the site running costs, to help the admins keep the community online. Anyone can become an Enigmaclusive member, and with this you get access to the premium area of the site. If EG has helped you, why not thank the admins by making a donation? There is a 'DONATIONS' tab on the menu above.
Messaging Staff
1. If you are stuck on a mission, use the mentoring list provided for each individual mission, that's why it's there. Do not go asking random staff if they have completed it, or if they can help you, because chances are, if they are not on the list, they do not have the time to answer your queries.
2. Engimagroup is a place where people come to educate themselves, and to assist them in expanding their own knowledge. The key words in that statement are 'themselves' and 'their own'. Do not ask any staff members if they will 'be your mentor' or 'mentor you in hacking', or anything relating to mentoring (rule 1 is only exception). If you want to learn that badly, then the best tutor is yourself, pick-up a book and read, its not that difficult.
3. Do not ask any staff members if they can hack anything for you, we are not guns for hire. The only exception with this, is if you can prove you are the legitimate owner of the server/site in question. In which case, (if I remember correctly), psycho offers penetration testing at a cost, so post in the Buy/Sell/Trade section details, and he will get in touch with you when he gets the chance.
4. Do not MENTION any sort of social networking sites what-so-ever, period. No we wont hack them for you. No we wont get someone' login information for you. No we wont tell you how to get your girlfriends/boyfriends password. No we wont tell you how to hack them. No we wont reply to shit like this, so save yourselves the embarrassment.
5. Follow all of the rules above.
Messaging Any Member
1. Use proper english, no one wants to attempt to read some crappy '1337 sp34k' crap, or text talk. If you act like a child, expect to be treated like one.
2. As a follow-up from rule 1 above, make sure you have actually attempted the mission your asking about, and have searched the forum threads for an answer to your issue. Show initiative, if you are going to message a mentor, make sure you send them what you have tried, you idea on how to complete it, and why you think it would work. People are much more likely to help you if you show that you are trying, and have the common sense to break down a problem into smaller peices.
3. No message barraging. If someone doesnt reply to you message right away, then dont go flooding them with PM's. All this will do is annoy the person on the receiving end, and make it much more likely that they will not help you. If there is no reply, simply wait longer. People have other commitments, thats just life.
4. No mithering people about missions. If someone has given you a pointer, then use your head to try and figure out, use google, a book, even ask friends. People will not just hand out answers, that not what this site is about. Research is one of the fundamentals in hacking, and is a required trait if you wish to get anywhere with it, so the best time to start, is now, right?
5. If someone offers you help on a particular mission in the forums or IRC, then make sure that they have actually completed the mission, as you could actually just hand them a near-answer. This would be deemed as cheating, and will not be tolerated.
If your message is particularly retarded, then all the staff do get a good old laugh out of them, but at your expense. So bear that in mind before writing up a PM.
Psycho : can you confirm rule 3? I recall you mentioning it, cant find the post.
If I have missed anything, then post it here and I'll update the rule set.
