Penetration tester Kevin Finisterre has found all kinds of exploits and has been hired to hack all kinds of companies and peculiar devices. But after Finisterre was hired to pen test a city's infrastructure, he discovered just how easily he could compromise a police cruiser's computer gear. He tapped into a digital video recorder in a cop car and soon saw the live feed on his computer screen.

By the end of the hack, Finisterre accessed the DVR hard drive and could see with cams and hear through the microphones in the police cruiser. By using default passwords, he was able to upload, download and even delete video feed files which had be collected from cop cars. Those stored files from DVRs might be meant for evidence in court cases.

@jester68 did you use a crafted google search to find them? If so I've done that too.

But what is an exploit if it can't be shared for the world to appreciate! =D

    That's awesome.

However, it's worrying that one, they're using default passwords for something that important, and two, they're using telnet which (i'm most probably wrong as i'm a noob) i thought's quite an old, and beginning to be wiped out protocol ?

Totally agree w/ InjectioN regarding default pwds being used. Just think of the smaller counties that don't have the technical resources/manpower to apply/maintain those systems. It really is a sensitive subject  :o

Just want to recommend reading the pdf, it give the details of the hack, such as telneting with no authentication required, ftp using default passwd, etc.
